Woodland, Cartersville cross country results from Coach Wood Invitational and Atlanta Classic
The Woodland High School cross country teams competed Saturday in the Nike/Fleet Feet Coach Wood Invitational hosted by Mill Creek High School at the McIntosh Nature Reserve.
The Woodland girls finished fourth in the Championship Division which was won by Marist. Marietta finished second and South Forsyth was third.
The Lady Cats were paced by McKenna Trapheagen who completed the 5K course in 17:59 and was fourth overall — only 10 seconds behind individual winner Jackie Addy of Holy Innocents’. Trapheagen was followed by teammates Angela Cochran (22nd, 19:07), Rylee Evans (42nd, 19:40), Baylee Evans (54th, 19:47), Carli Clymer (67th, 19:59), Cheyenne Spinks (79th, 20:20), Erica Boatner (134th, 21:11), Marlee Bowles (154th, 21:24), Avery Hull (215th, 22:09), and Mackenzie Stephenson (246th, 23:04).
The Woodland boys competed in the Boys Varsity Division.
Wildcats times included: John Shropshire (12th, 17:07), Dylan Stermer (20th, 17:29), John Forsyth (35th, 17:59), Patrick Bollwerk (65th, 18:32), Kobe Cochran (70th, 18:35), Reece Mitchell (99th, 19:03), Gabe Shephard (106th, 19:10), Ian Van Order (112th, 19:18), McKinley Chapell (124th, 19:33), and Pierre Brunet (166th, 20:29).
The Cartersville boys cross country team continued a strong season Saturday with a sixth place finish in a field of 24 teams and 179 runners at the Atlanta Classic 5K at Clinton Farms hosted by Chapel Hill High School.
Alexander won the boys race, followed by Jefferson and North Paulding in the top three. Zack Truitt of Landmark Christian was the individual winner in 15:52.
The Hurricanes were led by a seventh place finish by Bill Archer in 16:41. He was followed by fellow Canes Alex Rios (15th, 16:55), Max Florence (46th, 17:41), Parker Breedlove (56th, 17:48), and Jacob Busek (74th, 18:15).
Cartersville girls placed thirteenth in a field of 21 teams and 171 runners and had five runners record their best runs of the season.
Alexander girls won the event, followed by Union Grove and North Paulding. Reagan Mahoney of Atlanta International was the individual winner in 18:17.
Alex Machado led the Lady Canes with a 37th place finish in 21:25. She was followed by teammates Vanna Beach (70th, 22:08), Trista Kelly (72nd, 22:12), Alice Terry (79th, 22:34), Trinity Atkins (117th, 24:03), Metztli Munoz (123rd, 24:18), and Jocelyn Blanchette (124th, 24:19).
At the Pickens Invitational in Jasper on Saturday, Cass junior Olivia Flynn finished 84th out of 188 runners in 22:41.
