Woodland to open region championship series Tuesday at Carrollton
Madi Bentley tossed a four-inning, no-hitter Friday night as Woodland blanked Rome 13-0 to close out the 2018 regular season.
Bentley needed only forty pitches and threw 72 percent for strikes. She did not walk a batter and fanned six. She did hit one batter.
Woodland scored in each frame, including five runs in the first inning, four in the second, and two in the third and fourth innings.
Ansley Evans (triple), Jordan Duck, and Hannah Miller (photo) all had two hits and one RBI apiece for the Lady Cats. Skylar Chappell finished with a hit and three RBI. Morgan Bailey had two RBI and one hit. Allyssa Motes added a base hit.
Rome finished the regular season 5-19 overall and 2-14 in Region 7-AAAAA.
Woodland (20-6, 14-2) advances to the Region 7-AAAAA championship series Tuesday at Carrollton. The Lady Cats and Lady Trojans will play a best-of-three series beginning with a doubleheader on Tuesday.
Woodland and Carrollton split a pair of regular season games and both will host first round state playoff series.
