Woodland girls, Cartersville boys in state XC rankings


The Woodland girls cross country team is ranked second in the Georgia Week 5 Class AAAAA state rankings released this week by MileSplit.com. The Lady Cats also moved up one spot in the Georgia All-Classification rankings to third.


McIntosh is ranked first in Class AAAAA. Starrs Mill, Union Grove, and Riverwood follow in spots three through five. Grady, Whitewater, Decatur, Clarke Central, and Jones County round out the top ten.


In the All-Class rankings, the Woodland girls are behind Marietta and Marist. South Forsyth and McIntosh round out the top five.


The Cartersville boys cross country team moved up one spot to 7th in the Georgia Week 5 Class AAAA state rankings released this week by MileSplit.com.


The Hurricanes trail St. Pius X, Marist, North Oconee, Blessed Trinity, Chestatee, and White County in the rankings. Oconee County, Woodward Academy, and Pickens round out the top ten.


Many of the top teams in the state and a few out of state teams will compete locally this Saturday at Cartersville’s Sam Smith Park in the Wingfoot Invitational conducted by the Atlanta Track Club.
