Cartersville, Cass net volleyball wins
Cartersville volleyball won a pair of matches Thursday evening in Chatsworth finishing off the host Murray County Indians 25-17, 25-17 and later defeating Dalton 25-15, 25-11.
“We executed very well all night,” said Cartersville head coach Dustin Cothran. “We seved well and didn’t make many errors. Anna Mathis and Anna Grace Brock were dialed in with their serve receiving,” he continued. “ Cristina Cruz stepped up in the second match to put some balls away and London Shaw made some impressive blocks and kills.”
Nedu Evans totaled 26 kills, six aces, and 15 digs in the four sets Thursday. Bekah Stevens contributed 22 kills, six digs, and 10 aces. Anna Mathis contributed nine digs against Dalton and Grace Hunter totaled 71 assists and nine aces in the two matches.
Cartersville (19-11) hosts North Paulding Tuesday, October 2 for their Senior Night recognition. The match begins at 5 p.m.
CASS WINS AT ARMUCHEE Cass volleyball needed three sets, but captured a non-region road victory at Armuchee Thursday evening in Rome.
Armuchee won the opening set 25-21, but the Lady Colonels responded with wins in the next two sets, 25-21 and 25-16.
WOODLAND SPLITS MATCHES AT SPRAYBERRY
Woodland volleyball split a pair of non-region matches Thursday evening at Sprayberry High School in Cobb County.
The Lady Cats topped Sprayberry in their opener 25-20 and 25-19.
Macey Vaughn had ten assists. Caroline Gore contributed seven kills, seven digs, and two aces. Grace Webb had two kills, two blocks, and an assist, while Sydney Molinaro finished with five kills. East Coweta defeated Woodland 25-9 and 25-10.
Gore had four kills and four digs. Molinaro added a kill and three blocks. Vaughn had five assists and one ace.
Woodland hosts Rome and Cass Tuesday and the Lady Cats will recognize their 2018 seniors.
