Woodland cruises to 10th straight; Adairsville adds region win
Woodland softball raced to a 7-0 lead through three innings Tuesday night on their way to a dominating 15-5 Region 7-AAAAA win at Cass.
The Lady Cats extended their current win streak to 10 straight and have now won 15 of 16, including ten consecutive region games.
Woodland’s Skylar Chappell had three hits and two RBI as the Lady Cats out hit the Colonels 17 to six. Ansley Evans also had three hits for Woodland. Morgan Cooper (2 RBI), Morgan Bailey (2 RBI), Caroline Higdon (2 doubles, 2 RBI), Jordan Duck (2 RBI), and Bella Carnes had two hits apiece. Kendyl Hardin had a hit and two RBI. Hannah Miller contributed two RBI.
Madi Bentley (4.2 IP, 3R, 0ER, 3H, 3BB, 3K) started in the circle and collected the pitching win. Sarah Baynard (2.1 IP, 3R, 0ER, 3H) worked in relief.
Haley Smith had two hits for Cass. Macenzie Dougharty and Haley Owens contributed one hit and one RBI. Kelly Young, Rachael Lee added one hit each. Kylee Hembree and Holli Elrod had one RBI each.
Hembree (3.2 IP, 9R, 7ER, 10H, 2BB, 1K) and Dougharty (3.1 IP, 6R, 4ER, 7H, 2K) pitched for Cass.
Cass (3-20, 3-10) plays at Hiram Thursday at 5:55 p.m.
Woodland (16-5, 10-2) hosts Villa Rica Thursday at 5:55 p.m. and Lassiter Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Adairsville softball scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning Tuesday night in a come-from-behind 6-2 win at Murray County.
Taylor Rhoades (7 IP, 2ER, 6H, 1BB, 4K) earned the Tigers’ complete game pitching victory.
Alexa Varner paced Adairsville with two hits including a double and one RBI. Natalie Burrow drove in two runs and had one hit. Havyn Isaac doubled. Sierra Tanner, Sadye Johnson, Rhoades (RBI) added one hit each. Breeana Wilson and Cortni Jacobs contributed an RBI each.
Brooklyn Gonzales led Murray County (3-18, 1-14 with two hits.
Adairsville (6-19, 4-11) hosts Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
