Cass softball drops pair Friday night at Score International tourney


Cass softball lost 6-1 to Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe and 10-8 to Lamar County Friday night in fast pitch action at the Chattanooga Score International Invitational.


Five runs by LFO in the middle innings broke open a 1-1 game as the Warriors out hit Cass ten to five. The Colonels also committed four errors leading to three unearned runs.


In Friday’s nightcap, Lamar County ran out to a 10-1 lead through three innings and held off the Lady Colonels for a two-run win. Cass posted seven runs in the fourth inning, but it wasn’t enough.


Kylee Hembree was 2-for-3 in the game against LFO. Rachael Lee finished the two games 3-for-5 with a run scored and one RBI. Eryn Lee went 2-for-6 including a double, run, and RBI. Kelly Young, Haley Smith, Maggie Collum (double), and Macenzie Dougharty (double) had one hit on the night.


Hembree (5 IP, 6R, 3ER, 10H, 2Bb, 1K) worked all five innings in the circle for Cass against LFO. Rachael Lee (1 IP, 6ER, 6H, 1BB) and Dougharty (2.1 IP, 4ER, 6H, 1BB) split the pitching duties against Lamar County.
