Woodland, Cartersville, Cass take scrimmage wins
Local high school football teams and their fans got a taste of the 2018 season to come as all four Bartow County community high schools participated in scrimmages Thursday and Friday.
Woodland defeated Adairsville 37-10 in a matchup that was shifted to Thursday night by school officials after they were notified of a shortage in game officials.
Cartersville led 21-0 at halftime and went on to win at Dalton, 35-7, while Cass edged visiting Pepperell at Cochran Stadium, 6-3, on a late field goal by sophomore Kaleb Speights.
The regular season begins next Friday (Aug. 17) for three of the four local squads.
Adairsville will host Chattooga; Cartersville entertains Allatoona; and Woodland travels to Southeast Whitfield. Cass is idle and will host Adairsville the following week.
