Isaac's late blast lifts Adairsville in comeback win
The Adairsville Lady Tigers pounded out eleven hits in their season opener Tuesday night at Region 6-AAA foe Ringgold and came away with a come-from-behind 7-6 victory.
Senior Sierra Tanner paced the offense with three hits followed by fellow senior Havyn Isaac (photo) and sophomore Sadye Johnson with a pair of hits each. One of Isaac’s hits was a go-ahead, two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning. Sophomore Chloe Souders also added a pair of RBIs for the visiting Tigers.
Adairsville took an early 5-0 lead with two runs in the first inning and three more in the second, but the Ringgold Lady Tigers scored a run in the fifth and took the lead in the sixth inning with five runs that included a three-run homer.
A pair of sophomores did the pitching for Adairsville. Victoria O’Neal started in the circle and worked the first 5 and 1/3 innings. Taylor Rhoades picked up the pitching victory with 1 and 2/3 innings of relief and five strikeouts.
Adairsville (1-0) plays its home opener and sub-region opener Thursday against North Murray at 5:30 p.m.
