Cartersville Little League 12U set to challenge at state tourney
After winning the Georgia Little League baseball District 1 championship June 23-27, Cartersville Little League’s 12U baseball all-stars will now challenge for the 2018 Georgia Little League Baseball state championship.
The tournament opens Saturday and is hosted by Smyrna Little League in Cobb County.
Cartersville Little League 12U went undefeated in the district tournament with three straight wins to advance to the state tournament. Cartersville topped Bartow County 7-2 before sweeping Rockmart 2-0 and 16-1 to claim the title.
Cartersville will face Peachtree City Little League in both teams’ opening state tournament game Saturday at 1 p.m. The double-elimination tournament continues through at least Saturday, July 21 with a potential second championship game on July 22 if needed.
The state champion team will advance to the 2018 Little League Baseball Southeastern Regional Tournament at Little League Southeast Park in Warner Robins, GA August 3-8.

The Georgia champion advances to the 2018 Little League Baseball Southeastern Regional Tournament at Little League Southeast Park in Warner Robins, GA August 3-8.
