Bartow County recreation softball all-stars open GRPA district tourneys

Three different all-star softball teams representing the Bartow County Parks & Recreation Department will begin play in Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District 5 championship tournaments beginning Monday.

Bartow County will be represented in the 8U coach pitch division, 10U machine pitch division, and 12U division.

The 8U and 10U tournaments will be hosted by Whitfield County Parks & Recreation at Westside Park. The 12U tournament will be hosted at Alto Park in Rome.

GRPA District 5 8U Coach Pitch - Softball

Bartow County plays Gordon County in the opening round Monday at 8:15 p.m. at Whitfield County’s Westside Park. Other teams in the double-elimination tournament include host Whitfield County, Calhoun, Pickens County, Cedartown, Trion, Summerville, Rome, Dalton, Rockmart, and Murray County. The tournament continues through Friday, June 29 with an “if needed” game scheduled for Monday, July 2.

10U Machine Pitch - Softball

Bartow County received a first-round bye and opens tournament play Tuesday night at Westside Park in Whitfield County at 6:15 p.m. against Monday night’s Summerville/Cedartown winner. Other teams in the double-elimination event include host Whitfield County, Rockmart, and Trion. The tournament continues through Thursday night.

12U Softball

Alto Park in Rome is the site for the 2018 GRPA District 5 12U tournament. Bartow County opens the event against Dalton at 6:00 p.m. Monday night. Other teams include host Rome, Paulding County, Gordon County, Whitfield County, Pickens County, and Murray County. The double-elimination tournament continues through Thursday night.
