Bartow County Little League 10U eliminates Rockmart to reach District 1 finals
Bartow County Little League 10U defeated Rockmart Little League 10U Tuesday night 5-3 at Hamilton Crossing Park to reach the Georgia Little League District 1 finals.
Bartow, now 1-1 in the double-elimination tournament, will face Cartersville Little League 10U in the championship round starting Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.
Cartersville defeated Bartow County 14-5 in the opening game of the district tournament last Saturday.
Cartersville (2-0) can capture the district title with a win Wednesday night. Bartow County will need a win to force a deciding game Thursday night.
In Tuesday night’s win for Bartow County, Dayson Ward (3.1 IP, 3R, 1ER, 4H, 1BB, 2K) and Colton O’Neal (2.2 IP, 0R, 3H, 2BB, 4K) combined to limit the Rockmart offense to only one earned run on seven hits and three walks. The two Bartow pitchers combined for six strikeouts.
Reed Ezell sparked the Bartow offense with two hits including a triple. Ward also had a 2-for-3 night at the plate. Wyatt Earwood had one hit and one RBI. Landon Cassidy, Barrett Fuller, and O'Neal had the other Bartow County base hits. Jacob Jones and Jayden Jinks contributed one RBI each.
The Georgia District 1 10U champion will advance to the Georgia State Championship Tournament that starts July 7 hosted by Dudley Little League just west of Dublin, GA.
