Cass soccer teams cruise past Hiram
The Cass High School girls soccer team locked up a state playoff berth Wednesday night with a 6-0 blanking of Hiram. The Cass boys also had their way Wednesday in a 9-2 victory over the visiting Hornets.
Logan Vermaas had a hat trick of goals for the Lady Colonels and assisted Jaden Musacchio on the game’s first score with a corner kick.
Lupita Pineda and Maddie Shook added goals for Cass. Briana Ochoa, Morgan Delarm, and Hannah Johnson each had one assist.
Senior Brianna Bullock and freshman Yecenia Hernandez split time in goal to record the shutout.
The Lady Colonels (6-7, 5-2) play their final Region 7-AAAAA game at home Friday against Kell and will have non-region games with Darlington, North Springs, Calhoun, and Heritage-Catoosa following Spring Break.

CASS BOYS 9, HIRAM 2
The Colonels rolled to an easy Region 7-AAAAA victory Wednesday night at home with a 9-2 victory over Hiram.
Cass, now 5-2 in region action, closes out the region slate at home Friday against Kell.
Top scorer Anthony Robledo scored four goals, Carolos Perez scored twice, while Kaleb Speights, Moises Pajarito, and Julio Medina each added one goal each.
Julio Medina assisted on three of the Colonels’ scores. Slomi Orozco finished with two assists. Carlos Perez, Javier Duarte, and Robledo added one assist each.
Cass keeper Isai Romero picked up the victory in net while recording 16 saves.
Following the Kell match and Spring Break, the Colonels have non-region games remaining at North Springs and at home against Calhoun and Heritage-Catoosa.
