Soccer roundup: Woodland drops region matches, Tigers play to draw
The Woodland soccer teams dropped a pair of Region 7-AAAAA games Tuesday night and the Adairsville boys played Central-Carroll to a scoreless draw in non-region action.
VILLA RICA GIRLS 3, WOODLAND 2
Visiting Villa Rica led 3-1 at halftime and held off the home-standing Lady Cats, 3-2 in a Region 7-AAAAA match Tuesday night.
Kaitlin Winnenberg and Molly Plott scored the Woodland goals.
The Lady Cats hit the pitch again after Spring Break when they will face Heritage-Catoosa on April 10. Woodland (5-7-1, 2-5) also has one region game remaining against standings leader Carrollton.
VILLA RICA BOYS 5, WOODLAND 0
The two teams of Wildcats battled deep into the second half with the game tied 0-0, but visiting Villa Rica broke the ice and later added four more goals in a Region 7-AAAAA win Tuesday at Woodland.
Woodland (6-6-1, 5-3) plays at Heritage-Catoosa after Spring Break on April 10 and will host region foe Carrollton April 13.
ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 0, CENTRAL-CARROLL 0
Adairsville keeper Nic Jackson collected 18 saves Tuesday night as the Tigers played Central-Carroll to a 0-0 tie in non-region action.
Adairsville has a 3-1 Region 6-AAA record and returns to region action at home Thursday against Sonoraville.
