Tigers win at North Murray
The Adairsville Tigers scored at least one run in each of the first four innings Thursday night at North Murray, then held on for a 5-4 Region 6-AAA win over the host Mountaineers in Chatsworth.
Starter Caden Gibbs (5 IP, 4R, 2ER, 8H, 2BB, 4K) picked up the pitching victory for the Tigers. Chase Horn (2 IP, 0R, 0H, 2BB, 1K) delivered a save by retiring the final six outs.
Adairsville trailed 2-1 after one inning, but scored twice in the second inning and added single runs in the next two frames to lead 5-2 after four innings. North Murray threatened with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but Horn was able to squelch the Mountaineers at the end.
Four different Tigers had two hits in the victory.
Kyler Pelfrey (triple), Noah Dutton (RBI), Halen Huskins, and Gibbs (double) finished with two hits each. Corey Nation added a hit with a stolen base and Trace Still hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.
North Murray falls to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in Region 6-AAA.
Adairsville (9-3, 2-0) hosts Ringgold in another region game Friday at 5:55 p.m.
