Woodland girls rout opponents; Cartersville teams edged on road
The Woodland Lady Cats’ soccer team rolled past Cedartown Thursday 8-0 and Pickens County on Friday, 11-1.
Kaitlin Winnenberg scored three goals in each of the one-sided wins. Grace Webb and Tiera Feanny followed with three goals each in the two victories. Anna McCrary, Hayley Gilbert, Kayla Gilbert, Molly Plott, and Esmeralda Hernandez also added scores for Woodland.
The Lady Cats (3-2-1) host Paulding County Tuesday to open Region 7-AAAAA play.
NORTHWEST WHITFIELD GIRLS 2, CARTERSVILLE 1
Marissa Mowry scored the Cartersville goal in the second half Friday night in Tunnel Hill, but it was the Lady Bruins — currently ranked 9th in Class AAAA — that improved to 5-1 with the non-region win.
Cartersville (3-2) hosts Sequoyah Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and starts Region 5-AAAA action Friday at 6 p.m. at Troup County.
NORTHWEST WHITFIELD BOYS 3, CARTERSVILLE 2
Cartersville’s Pedro Ghanem scored both of the Hurricanes’ goals Friday night at Northwest Whitfield.
The Class AAAA, 7th-ranked Bruins improved to 3-1 with the non-region victory.
The Canes (3-3, ranked 9th) host Sequoyah Tuesday and travel to Troup County Friday.
