Colonels take down Titans, 8-1

The Cass offense produced seven runs by the third inning Thursday night on the Colonels’ way to a non-region 8-1 win over visiting Class 6A Northview.


The Colonels scored four runs in the second inning and added three more in the third for their early advantage. Northview scored its only run in the fifth and Cass matched it in the sixth inning.


Blaine Ingram (4 IP, 0R, 2H, 3BB, 2K) started on the mound for Cass and earned the pitching victory. Parker Hardin (2 IP, 1ER, 2H, 2BB) and Nic Wallin (1 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 1K) closed out the contest.


Clay Means had two hits including a triple, walked twice, and drove in a pair of runs to lead the Colonels’ offensive attack. Gavin Young drove in two runs and had one double. Evan Hinton and Nathan Smith added base hits. Matt Shook finished with a walk and two RBI. Blaine Ingram walked twice and forced in a run.


Northview is now 1-2 on the season.


Cass (2-1) plays a doubleheader at Pepperell Saturday at 1 p.m.
