All four local girls teams drop region games


All four local high school girls basketball teams lost region games Tuesday night.

 

KELL GIRLS 39, WOODLAND 26


The Woodland girls dropped a Region 7-AAAAA game Tuesday night at Kell, 39-26.


Kell led 13-7 after one quarter, 24-14 at halftime, and 33-16 through three quarters on their way to the 13-point win.


Sierra Hick and Kya Williams led Kell with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Ashley Sparrow added eight.


Woodland was led by senior Whitney Harris with 10 points. Carli Clymer scored six points, Nickiah Metcalf five, Madgie Robinson three, and Lauren Morris two points.


Kell improved to 5-9 overall and 3-3 in region play.


Woodland (3-9, 1-6) hosts Rome Wednesday night at 6 p.m. and 9th-ranked Carrollton Saturday at 3 p.m.





SANDY CREEK GIRLS 44, CARTERSVILLE 28


The Sandy Creek girls made 14 of 18 fourth quarter free throws and outscored the Lady Canes 18-4 in the final period to defeat Cartersville 44-28 Tuesday night at the Storm Center.


Daija Powell and Nina Lun led the visiting Lady Patriots with 15 points each. Paris Thompson and Jania Hodges added seven each.


London Shaw scored eight points to lead Cartersville. Amya Davis scored five. Jada Cunningham, Addie Smith, and Kalli Scheff added four apiece. Cio Seigler scored three points.


Sandy Creek (9-6, 3-0) remained unbeaten in Region 5-AAAA.


Cartersville (5-8, 0-3) entertains Chapel Hill Friday night at 6 p.m.





HARALSON COUNTY GIRLS 69, ADAIRSVILLE 26


The Adairsville girls lost at Class AAA 10th-ranked Haralson County Tuesday night 69-26.


The Lady Rebels (12-1, 4-1 Region 6-AAA) took a 21-6 lead after one quarter and maintained a comfortable lead throughout.


Alexis Boykin led four Haralson players in double-figures with 13 points. Kayleigh Bagwell scored 11 while Claire Robinson and Indiya Smith added ten each.


Havyn Isaac paced Adairsville with eight points. Josie Summerville scored seven. Breeana Wilson followed with six. Nikiyah Washington scored three and Lori Cimino two for the Lady Tigers.


Adairsville (2-14, 1-5) hosts Sonoraville Friday night at 7 p.m. and Armuchee Saturday at 6 p.m.





ROME GIRLS 65, CASS 42


Visiting Rome improved to 11-2 overall and 3-1 in Region 7-AAAAA with a dominating 23-point win Tuesday night at Cass.


The Lady Colonels (9-6, 3-4) play at Class AAAAA 6th-ranked Villa Rica Friday at 6 p.m. and travel to Paulding County Saturday.
