Lady Colonels, Colonels drop region games at Rome

The Cass High School basketball teams were swept in Region 7-AAAAA games Wednesday night at Rome High School.
The Lady Colonels fell 71-51 to the 9th-ranked Lady Wolves, while the Colonels were edged in the nightcap, 57-56, in overtime.
In the girls game, Rome led 18-9 through one quarter and pushed the lead to 15 points by halftime on their way to a 20-point victory.
Chanel Clemmon led the Lady Colonels with 11 points. Sharia Wade and Payton Stoddard followed with nine each. Amber Brittian scored seven, Lyric Curtis six, and Kyla Michienzi five points.
The loss by the Colonels in the boys game snapped a four-game win streak.
Both Cass teams are now 9-4 on the season and 3-2 in region play. The Lady Colonels and Colonels travel to Carrollton Friday for a 6 p.m. start.
