Girls hoops roundup: Lady Colonels take third at Chattooga Christmas Classic


The Cass Lady Colonels rebounded from an overtime, semifinal loss Thursday in the Chattooga Christmas Classic to win the third place game Friday in dominating fashion over host Chattooga.


In other girls action Friday, Cartersville and Adairsville suffered losses.

 

CASS GIRLS 74, CHATTOOGA 37 The Lady Colonels overwhelmed host Chattooga 74-37 in the third place game of the Chattooga Christmas Classic.


Cass took a 17-6 lead after one quarter, extended their lead to 35-14 at halftime, and led 59-29 through three quarters.


Aaliyah Curtis led the Lady Colonels with 12 points. Lyric Curtis, who was named to the all-tournament team, followed with 10 points. Sharia Wade and Kyla Michienzi scored nine points each. Alexis Ware and Payton Stoddard contributed eight each. Amber Brittian and Kyler Trouten each scored six. Londaisha Smith, Damia Simpson, and Chanel Clemmons added two points apiece.


Reagan Broome led Chattooga (4-6) with eight points.


Cass (8-3) hosts Woodland Tuesday at 6 p.m.




ALLATOONA GIRLS 43, CARTERSVILLE 37


The Lady Canes led into the fourth quarter, but committed 21 turnovers Friday in the second half during a 43-37 loss to Allatoona at the Sonoraville Classic in Calhoun.


Cartersville held a 21-14 lead at halftime and was up 29-27 after three quarters, before the Lady Buccaneers outscored them 16-8 in the fourth period.


Kalli Scheff led Cartersville with 10 points. Jada Cunningham followed with eight points.


Lauren Davenport had a game-high 14 points to lead Allatoona (2-9).


Cartersville (5-5) hosts Cedartown at the Storm Center Tuesday night at 6 p.m.




CHRISTIAN HERITAGE GIRLS 79, ADAIRSVILLE 43

Christian Heritage ran out to a 22-8 lead in the first quarter and controlled the contest throughout in defeating Adairsville 79-43 in a consolation game at the Mountain Top Tournament at Fannin County Friday.


The Lady Lions led 50-19 at halftime. Josie Summerville led the Lady Tigers with 17 points. Havyn Isaac scored five, Nakiyah Washington four, and Coriana McDaniel two points.


Adairsville (2-11) returns to action next Friday at home against Calhoun. The Region 6-AAA North game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip.
