Adairsville boys top Cass; Cartersville girls, Cass girls net wins
The Adairsville boys, Cass girls, and Cartersville girls were each winners Tuesday night in high school basketball action across the area.
ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 60, CASS 50
The Tigers won their third straight Tuesday night at home with a 60-50 win over visiting Cass.
Adairsville took a 19-7 lead after one period and held on for their 10-point victory. The Tigers led 22-21 at halftime and 36-30 after three quarters.
Mason Boswell led four Tigers in double figures with 17 points. Cody Henderson scored 14, Ethan Belcher 13, and Hunter Hice 11 points. Jessie O’Kelley and Gaven Crunkelton added two points each and Savaun Henderson scored one.
Mark Chester and Ashton Burley led the Colonels with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Carter Hedden scored seven. Markeldrick Powell and Ethan Carter added six points each. Justice Hayes scored four.
Adairsville improved to 4-7 on the year and will open play in the Blue Ridge Christmas Tournament against White County at 12:30 p.m. on December 28.
Cass (5-3) plays Calhoun December 27 in the opening round of the Chattooga Christmas Classic in Summerville at 4 p.m.
CASS GIRLS 58, ADAIRSVILLE 34
The Cass Lady Colonels won at Adairsville Tuesday night, 58-34.
Cass (6-2) led 19-9 after one quarter and 33-16 at halftime.
Kyla Michienzi led the Lady Colonels with 14 points. Payton Stoddard followed with 13 for Cass. Amber Brittian finished with nine points., Aaliyah Curtis seven, Alexis Ware six, Chanel Clemmons four, Lyric Curtis three, and Sharia Wade scored two points.
Josie Summerville led Adairsville with 14 points. Nakiyah Washington had eight points. Alexa Varner totaled five, Lori Cimino three, Ji’Leyah Mitchell two, and Coriana McDaniel two points for Adairsville (2-9).
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play in the Mountain Top Tournament at Fannin County December 28-30.
Cass plays in the Chattooga Christmas Classic in Summerville December 27-29.
CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 42, COOSA 41
The Cartersville girls overcame a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter Tuesday night at Georgia Highlands College in Rome to edge Coosa 42-41 in a consolation game of the Rome News-Tribune Holiday Festival.
Coosa led 11-6 after one period, 25-21 at halftime, and 41-28 going into the final period.
Cartersville blanked Coosa in the fourth quarter, winning the period 14-0 for the one-point victory.
Kalli Scheff led Cartersville with 16 points. Cio Siegler, London Shaw, and DeAsia Jefferson each chipped in with six points. Ariana Cochran scored four while Addie Smith and Naijah Evans added two points each.
Carah Arrant and Emma Reynolds scored 12 points each for Coosa (2-5).
Cartersville (4-4) plays next at the Sonoraville Classic in Calhoun December 28-29. The Lady Canes will face Ridgeland in their first game.
MODEL GIRLS 50, WOODLAND 27
Model, ranked 4th in Class AA, defeated Woodland Tuesday in the Rome News-Tribune Holiday Festival, 50-27.
Model (9-2) took control early and led 25-9 after one quarter. The Lady Blue Devils never trailed.
Victoria Saxton led Model with a game-high 17 points. Whitney Harris scored 16 for Woodland.
Woodland (2-5) plays Armuchee Thursday in a consolation game at Georgia Highlands College at 4 p.m.
