Cartersville XC teams sweep Tiger Invitational
The Cartersville High School cross country teams made it a clean sweep Thursday at the Adairsville Tiger Invitational.
The Lady Canes won by 28 points over second place Gordon Central and the Hurricanes won by 11 points over the host Tigers.
Six varsity girls teams and six varsity boys teams competed, including Trion, Dade County, and Chattooga.
Adairsville's Angel Banda won the boys individual title with a time of 19:21. Cartersville's Bill Archer (19:28) and Jacob Busek (20:15) were second and fourth, respectively.
Taylor Warren of Dade County won the girls' race in 25:10. Vanna Beech of the Lady Canes was runner-up in 25:27. Cartersville teammates Katie Tolbert (25:35), Alex Machado (25:37), Alice Terry (25:40), Zane Bryant (25:51), and Kayla Carpenter (25:57) took fourth through eighth places.
Mallory Woodall (29:18) finished 12th to lead the Adairsville girls. She was followed by Destiny Adams, Makayla Thacker, Shyanna Walker, and Bethany Kubala of the Lady Tigers.
Rounding out the top runners for the Cartersville boys were Max Florence (6th, 20:51), Clay Ross (8th, 21:01), Parker Breedlove (11th, 21:08), Matthew Wilson (14th, 21:34), and Riley Dabbs (21st, 22:46).
Adairsville finishers included: T.J. Bosdell (7th, 20:58), Daniel Sullivan (9th, 21:04), Jason Bromby (12th, 21:17), Zach Ashley (13th, 21:29) J.T. Tatum (15th, 21:49), James Brunson (16th, 21:56), Chandler Nally (22nd, 22:47), and Jason Burdette (26th, 23:32).
