Lady Canes win twice Monday night at home, prep for region tourney

Cartersville volleyball swept a pair of non-region matches Monday night at the Storm Center.

The Lady Canes defeated Sonoraville in three sets 25-9, 22-25, and 15-13. They also took a straight set win over Murray County 25-18 and 25-9.

“We’ve battled some injuries this season and have now lost one of our setters,” said Cartersville coach Dustin Cothran. “As a result, we switched offensive systems and for some reason we are struggling with it a bit. We played better against Murray County, so hopefully that will give us some momentum going into the region tournament.”

With the two wins, the Lady Canes improved to 23-3 on the season.

The Region 5-AAAA tournament begins at Chapel Hill Wednesday with the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals Thursday at the Storm Center.
