TERRIUS CALLAHAN — Austin Peay State University (R-Fr., WR, Cartersville HS). . . scored the game's only touchdown on a 22-yard reverse as the Governors defeated visiting Tennessee-Martin 7-0 Saturday night. APSU (3-2, 2-0 Ohio Valley Conference) entertains Jacksonville State this Saturday afternoon in another OVC matchup.
MARCUS CHILDERS — Northern Illinois University (R-Fr., QB, Adairsville HS). . . ran five times for 20 yards and scored a touchdown, but the Huskies lost at San Diego State 34-28. Childers also attempted one pass. Childers scored on a one-yard keeper to cap a 4-play, 60-yard drive in the third quarter that narrowed the Aztecs’ lead to 31-28 at the time. NIU (2-2) opens Mid America Conference play this Saturday afternoon with their homecoming game against Kent State.
DALEN CURTIS — Brevard College (Fr., OL, Cartersville HS). . . (photo left) a starter at center for the Tornados in their home 38-10 loss to Huntingdon College. Brevard (1-4) hosts Virginia-Lynchburg this Saturday afternoon for their annual homecoming game.
TRASE FEZZIA — Ellsworth CC (Fr., WR/DB, Cartersville HS). . . saw playing time this past Saturday as the Panthers defeated College of DuPage 19-14. Ellsworth (3-2, 1-0) plays at Independence CC this Saturday night.
T.L. FORD II — UNC-Charlotte (Sr., WR, Cartersville HS). . . was targeted four times but did not have a reception in the 49ers’ 30-29 loss at Florida International University. UNCC (0-5, 0-1 Conference USA) entertains conference opponent Marshall this Saturday night.
GORDON GRAY — Kennesaw State University (R-Jr., WR, Cartersville HS). . . saw playing time in the Owls’ 38-34 victory over North Greenville University this past Saturday. KSU (3-1) hosts Texas Southern this Saturday night.
GABE GRIDLEY — ASA New York (Fr., Punter, Cartersville HS). . . had five punts for a 41.2 yard average in the Avengers' 67-14 win Saturday afternoon over Hudson Valley CC. He had a long punt of 51 yards and dropped two punts inside the 20 yard line. ASANY (3-1) plays Lackawanna CC this Saturday afternoon in Uniondale, NY.
EMMANUEL JONES — Colorado State University (Fr., LB, Woodland HS). . . (photo left) made four solo tackles in the Rams’ 51-21 win Saturday at Hawai’i. CSU (3-2, 1-0 Mountain West Conference) travels to Logan, UT to face Utah State this Saturday afternoon.
RODNEY MITCHELL — Coastal Carolina University (Sr., OL, Cartersville HS). . . continues to start at left tackle for the Chanticleers who lost 51-43 Saturday at Louisiana-Monroe. Coastal rushed for 112 yards and passed for 329 in the loss, outgaining ULM 441-344. CCU (1-3, 0-1 Sun Belt Conference) plays Georgia State at home this Saturday night.
MARK QUATTLEBAUM — UNC-Charlotte (Jr., SL, Cartersville HS). . . was targeted twice in the second half and caught one pass for 7 yards this past Saturday in the 49ers’ 30-29 loss to Florida International University in Miami. UNCC (0-5, 0-1 Conference USA) hosts Marshall this Saturday night in another C-USA game.
ISAIAH ROSS — Point University (Sr., LB, Woodland HS). . . made six tackles, five solo as the Skyhawks lost to visiting 3rd-ranked Reinhardt University 62-28 in an Appalachian Athletic Conference game. Point (1-4, 0-1) travels to University of Pikeville (KY) this Saturday afternoon.
JOHN SCIFERS — University of West Georgia (Fr., PK, Woodland HS). . . kicked off five times for a 56.6 yard average Saturday as the Wolves defeated Gulf South Conference rival North Alabama 37-23 in Carrollton. UWG (4-1, 1-1) hosts conference foe Valdosta State this Saturday afternoon.
TORRIAN SCRUTCHINS — Ellsworth CC (Fr., DL, Cartersville HS). . . saw playing time for the Panthers as they defeated College of DuPage 19-14 Saturday afternoon at home. Ellsworth CC (3-2, 1-0 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference) plays Saturday night at Independence CC.
BRANDON WADE — Ellsworth CC (Fr., DL, Cartersville HS). . . saw playing time as the Panthers defeated College of DuPage Saturday 19-14 in a conference matchup. Ellsworth CC (3-2, 1-0 Iowa Community College Athletic Conference) travels to Independence CC this Saturday night for another conference game.
JAKE WALKER — Furman University (Fr., TE, Cartersville, GA, Darlington HS). . . had an 11-yard reception on the Paladins’ opening drive of the game giving Furman possession in East Tennessee State territory. They went on to score and take a 7-0 lead on their way to a 56-35 home Southern Conference win over the Buccaneers. Furman (2-3, 1-1) plays at Chattanooga this Saturday.
