Elite Athletes of the Month for September 2017
Elite Stone Supply, in conjunction with WBHF and Bartow Sports Zone, presents the ELITE ATHLETES OF THE MONTH.
Each month, local high schools are provided opportunity to name an Elite Athlete of the Month and present the information on their honoree through Bartow Sports Zone and on 100.3FM and AM1450, WBHF in Cartersville.
Recipients for September 2017:
Brooke Bishop -- Adairsville High School Carli Clymer -- Woodland High School
Rett Moore -- Cass High School
Addie Smith -- Cartersville High School
Brooke Bishop is the September Elite Athlete of the Month representing Adairsville High School.
A senior flyer for the Tigers’ competition cheer team, she is the daughter of Eric and Gina Bishop.
Bishop has been the captain of both the competition and spirit cheer squads for the past two years. She is also an UCA All-American cheerleader.
Adairsville Athletic Director Meredith Barnhill said, “She was named Athlete of the Month for her leadership skills and athleticism. She is hard-working, driven, and determined. She serves as an impeccable example to her fellow cheerleaders and peers.”
Bishop also carries an outstanding 3.8 grade point average.
The September Elite Athlete of the Month for Woodland High School is three sport standout, Carli Clymer.
A sophomore cross country runner, basketball shooting guard, and track distance runner, she is the daughter of Laura and Jeff Clymer.
Clymer is the 2017 Bartow County cross country champion and the school record holder in both the 1600 meter run in track and field and cross country 5K.
“Carli is an outstanding individual who excels in school, sports, and in general character,” said Woodland coach Matthew Landolt. “I’m proud to be involved in her life.”
An honor roll student, Clymer has plans to continue her athletic career at the NCAA Division I level.
Rett Moore is the September Elite Athlete of the Month from Cass High School.
Son of Tracey and Dr. Nicky Moore, Rett is a junior quarterback for the Colonels’ football team.
Moore has continued to grow as a player and a leader for Cass. His gritty determination and relentless effort is starting to produce for the youthful Cass offense. He has been a constant threat in the Colonels’ running game and has shown productive signs with the play action passing game.
Moore is a 4.0 grade point average student and a leader in the building and in the classroom at Cass High School.
The September Elite Athlete of the Month from Cartersville High School is Addie Smith.
A senior member of both the Lady Canes’ volleyball and basketball teams, Smith is the daughter of Julie and Howard Smith.
Smith is the volleyball team’s captain and the defensive specialist/libero. She is also a two-year member of the Tsunami Rome travel volleyball program.
Smith was awarded the FCA “All In” Award in 2017. She is a member of Splash Bartow, FBLA, and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
She is a four-year Beta Club member, a member of National Honor Society, earned the highest GPA for varsity volleyball and basketball the last two years, 2017 Junior Marshall, selected for the Clemson University CATS program in 2016, and will graduate this spring as an Honors graduate with distinction.
"Addie is an asset in every sense of the word,” said Cartersville volleyball coach Dustin Cothran. “She is very steady at her position on the court, and is one of the best captains I've ever had in high school or college. She is a great student, a person of strong character, and I expect amazing things from her in the future. She is very deserving of this accolade as well as all of the others she has received to date. I'm proud she is part of our volleyball family.”
