Cass comes up short at East Paulding

Cass High softball lost 3-1 at East Paulding Thursday night in a Region 7-AAAAA matchup.

East Paulding took a 3-0 lead with a run in the third inning and two more in the fourth. Cass scored a single unearned run in the top of the seventh.

East Paulding out hit Cass five to two.

Haley Owens (3.1 IP, 3R, 2ER, 4H, 2BB, 4K) and Taylor Gibson (2.2 IP, 0R, 1H, 1BB, 1K) split the pitching duties for Cass in the loss.

Alexia Najarro and Maggie Collum had the only hits for the Lady Colonels.

East Paulding improved to 11-10 overall and 6-6 in region play.

Cass (4-19, 0-11) hosts Paulding County Friday night at 5:55 p.m.
