Volleyball update: Cartersville defeats Armuchee, Cass and Woodland earn splits
Cartersville volleyball defeated Armuchee Tuesday night in Rome 25-8, 25-14 to improve to 11-2 on the season.
“The girls did a great job of maintaining their focus,” said Cartersville coach Dustin Cothran. “Lauren Wenzell adjusted well to a new position tonight and our back row played well in receiving serves. It was a solid performance.”
The Lady Canes pick up play in Region 5AAAA next Tuesday at Central-Carroll where they will play the Lady Lions and Cedartown.
Cass volleyball split matches Tuesday with Hiram and Cedartown at Cedartown High School.
Hiram defeated the Lady Colonels in three sets 25-17, 22-25, 25-10, but the Lady Colonels defeated Cedartown in straight sets, 25-19, 25-12.
“Kyler Trouten had over 15 kills and both Keila Sanchez and Harmony Carr scored over 10 points each with their serves,” said Cass coach Chelsea Morris.
Cass (9-5) plays Fannin County and Murray County Thursday at Fannin.
Woodland volleyball split matches Tuesday with Marietta and Carver at Marietta High School.
The Lady Cats lost 25-15, 25-9 to Marietta. Shianne Coetzee had five aces and three digs. Emmaline Payne had a pair of kills and five digs in the loss.
Against Carver, Woodland won in straight sets 25-8, 25-7. Noelle Dickey had six aces and two kills. Payne totaled nine aces, two digs, and four kills.
Woodland (3-10) plays Lafayette and Calhoun Thursday at Calhoun.
