Canes open defense of back-to-back state titles ranked No. 1
The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes will open defense of their back-to-back Class 4A state titles as the top-ranked team in the first statewide poll release by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Grayson, Tucker, Rome, Peach County, Benedictine, Eagles Landing Christian, and Clinch County are the No. 1 teams in the other classifications.
Sandy Creek, a member of Cartersville's Region 5-AAAA, is in the pre-season Top 10 in Class 4A.
Calhoun, a member of Adairsville's Region 6-AAA, is in the pre-season Top 10 in Class 3A, while Rome (#1), Carrollton (#4), and Kell (#6) in Class 5A are all members of the same region with Woodland and Cass.
