Matherne wins USA Track and Field title

Cartersville High School cross country and track and field coach David Matherne won the 50-and-over mile competition in the Outdoor Masters at the USA Track and Field Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana last weekend.

Matherne, 52, won for the second time in his age division with a time of 4:28.2. His first title came in 2014.

The former Berry College runner was representing the Atlanta Track Club.

Louisiana State University's Bernie Moore Track Stadium hosted the 2017 Outdoor Masters July 13-16.
