Nixon, Brumlow win at UGA Southeastern Junior Golf Tour event

Brock Nixon of Acworth and Buck Brumlow of Cartersvile both collected wins over the weekend at the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour event at the University of Georgia Course with Nixon garnering the overall championship.

In the final round, Nixon — a high school junior in the 16-19-year division — had the low round of the tournament that included six birdies and a bogey to finish 3-under-par for the tournament (73-66–— 139).

Brumlow, a Cartersville eighth grader, was playing in his first-ever Southeastern event and fired a 3-under-par 68 with six birdies in the opening round. Brumlow then shot even in the final round to win the 14-15-year division and tied Nixon for the overall (68-71) at 139.

The two went to a playoff for the overall title with Nixon winning on the first playoff hole.

The next events on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour are the Achasta Junior at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega, GA and the Montgomery Country Club Junior in Montgomery, AL. Both events are May 31-June 1.
