Orioles win Bartow County Little League regular season, top seed in league playoffs


The Bartow County Little League (major) regular season concluded Thursday night with the Orioles wrapping up the regular season title.


Now all ten teams begin a post-season tournament that runs Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26.


The Orioles and 2nd-seeded Braves will receive byes to face opening round survivors on Tuesday night. The fourth through sixth seeded teams are also placed in the quarterfinal round. The complete playoff schedule is listed below.


The Braves’ Brice Craig finished the regular season with a .667 batting average to lead the league. He was followed by the Orioles’ Braden Powell (.636) and Tyler Driggers (.633). Mark Perdue of the Giants finished regular season play with a .625 batting average and Christopher Cabe of the Rangers rounded out the top five with a .567 average.


Driggers led the league with a 1.667 slugging percentage and 29 RBIs. Ashton Phillips of the Orioles finished with 20 RBIs. Craig had 19 RBIs, followed by Perdue with 18 RBIs and Landon O’Neal of the Athletics with 16.
