Second half surge lifts 2nd-ranked Clarkston past Cass in soccer playoffs
The Cass boys soccer team, who qualified for the state playoffs for the first time in over a decade, fell to 2nd-ranked Clarkston Friday night in 2017 Class AAAAA state playoffs, 5-0.
The Colonels played a strong first half and got several key saves from goal keeper Brandon Romero to take a 0-0 score to the intermission, but the Angorras broke the ice in the game’s 56th minute and added four more tallies across the next thirteen minutes to take a 5-0 lead with just over eight minutes to play.
Cass finished the year 5-11. Clarkston will host Starr’s Mill in the second round of the playoffs next Wednesday. Starr’s Mill routed Warner Robins 11-1 in the first round Friday night.
