SHGA update: Wittenberg wins Web.com Tour event; Charles Howell III makes Round of 16 at WGC event

Scott Hamilton is the long time Director of Golf at CCC and is teacher/advisor/instructor to many prominent golf professionals competing on the PGA Tour, PGA Champions Tour, WEB.com Tour, LPGA Tour, and more. Mike Granato is a local golf instructor who also works with many of Hamilton's clients.

Casey Wittenberg, one of the players currently working with Cartersville Country Club’s Scott Hamilton Golf Academy and local golf instructor Mike Granato won the Wed.com Tour’s 2017 Chitimacha Louisian Open Sunday at Le Triomphe Golf and Country Club in Broussard, Louisiana. He carded a 2-under par 69 in the final round to finish 21-under for the four-day tournament and won by three shots over Xinjun Zhang.
Wittenberg, 32 from Memphis, moved to No. 5 on the 2017 Web.com Tour money list with his third tour victory. He won twice in 2012.
Wittenberg played collegiately at Oklahoma State University and was a 2003 finalist in the U.S. Amateur and member of the U.S. Walker Cup team. He also finished 13th at the Masters Tournament in 2004 as an amateur, the year he turned pro.
He led the Web.com Tour money list in 2012, earning him his 2013 PGA Tour card, but made only eight cuts in 27 tournaments, finished 150th on the money list and lost his PGA Tour card.
Kyle Thompson, also a SHGA player, shot 5-under Sunday to finish 9-under for the tournament and tied for 35th.
The next event on the Web.com Tour is the United Leasing & Finance Championship at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Indiana April 20-23.
PGA TOUR
Charles Howell III made the round of 16 at the World Golf Championship Dell Matchplay last Wednesday through Sunday at Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas. Howell fell 6 & 4 to John Rahm who eventually lost in the championship match to World No. 1 Dustin Johnson.
Next on the PGA Tour schedule is the Shell Houston Open this weekend.
PGA CHAMPIONS TOUR
On the PGA Champions Tour, SHGA-player Joe Durant will tee it up again this weekend at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic in Biloxi.
