Chargers win 11-2 at East Georgia State


Georgia Highlands College broke open a tight game in the middle innings Friday to rout East Georgia State CC, 11-2.


The Bobcats led the Chargers 2-1 after three innings, but GHC scored six times in the fourth inning and added four more runs across the fifth and sixth innings to take control.


The Chargers out hit East Georgia, ten to four.


Matthew Norton (7 IP, 2R, 0ER, 4H, 2BB, 1K) started on the mound and picked up the pitching win for Georgia Highlands. Kyle Brady (2 IP, 0R, 0H, 1BB, 2K) tossed a pair of shutout innings in the eighth and ninth.


Grant Bodison had three hits, scored twice, and drove in two runs for the Chargers. Isreal Zackery drove in four runs with a double and a triple. Matt Vaccro (2 RBI), Bronco O’Brien (RBI), Caleb McElwaney, Devin Bilardello, and John White added one hit each.


East Georgia falls to 13-13 overall and 3-3 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association with their second straight loss to the Chargers. GHC won the series opener Tuesday at LakePoint, 17-0.


Georgia Highlands (22-9, 2-0 GCAA) will wrap up the four-game conference series with East Georgia Saturday with a doubleheader in Swainsboro.
