Canes edged at LaGrange, 2-1
LaGrange scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning Thursday evening before Grangers’ pitcher Ben Anderson limited Cartersville to a single run over seven innings for a 2-1 Region 5AAAA decision.
Anderson scattered five hits and five walks. He fanned eleven Canes.
Cartersville pitcher Mason Barnett was almost as successful. He shut out the Grangers after the two-run first inning and limited LaGrange to only five hits without a walk, although he did hit two batters. Only one of the two LaGrange runs were earned and Barnett struck out five.
Noah Daniel drove in the Canes’ run in the fifth inning with a two-out single to right field that scored Anthony Seigler.
Ben Anderson had two hits for LaGrange.
Seigler had two hits for Cartersville. Daniel, Jacob Fowler, and Spencer Dickey had the other Hurricanes’ hits.
The Grangers improved to 11-7 overall and 3-1 in Region 5AAAA.
Cartersville (13-4, 3-1) hosts Troup County Friday at 5:55pm at Richard Bell Field.
