Warner homers twice, Barnette tosses two-hitter as Canes pound Chapel Hill
Devin Warner homered twice and Anthony Seigler hit a home run as the Cartersville Hurricanes pounded out 13 hits and 13 runs to shutout Chapel Hill 13-0 in Douglasville Friday night for a Region 5AAAA win.
Mason Barnette went the five-inning distance for a two-hit, shutout. He walked one and struck out nine.
Seigler finished with three hits and a pair of RBIs that included his homer and a double. Warner drove in three runs with his two dingers. J.P. Martin and Spencer Dickey both had two hits. Chandler Tromza (2 RBIs), Levi Ayers, Jacob Fowler (2 RBIs), and Noah Daniel had one hit each for the Canes.
With the loss, the Panthers fall to 8-11 overall and 0-3 in region play.
Cartersville (11-3, 2-0) plays Rome in a non-region game Saturday at the Rome Braves’ State Mutual Stadium at 1pm and will host Cedartown in a Region 5AAAA matchup Tuesday at 5:55pm at Richard Bell Field.
