GHC wins sixth straight


The Georgia Highlands College baseball team took advantage of 12 walks and rapped out 10 hits Sunday to earn a two-game sweep of Macomb CC (Mich.) with a 14-4 win in the second game of their weekend series.


The win was also the Chargers’ sixth straight.


Bronco O’Brien went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, scored twice, and drove in three runs at the top of the Georgia Highlands’ lineup. Matt Vaccro was 3-for-4 with five RBIs for the Chargers.


GHC used three pitchers in the win. Jeremiah Woods was credited with the win in relief of Sean Fitzpatrick. Sam Sowerbrower closed out the final five innings on the mound.


Georgia Highlands (12-8) hosts Vincennes University (KS) Wednesday at 11am and will entertain Indian Hills (IA) Friday at 3pm. The Chargers then have a doubleheader with USC-Lancaster on Saturday starting at 1pm and will face Triton College (IL) Sunday at noon. All games are at LakePoint Sports in Emerson.
