BCRD 8u boys fall in GRPA final four

The Bartow County Recreation Department’s 8U boys basketball team lost Saturday in the semifinals of the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) State Championship Tournament in College Park.

Bartow defeated East Point in the state quarterfinals to reach the Final Four, but fell to Dekalb County, 29-24.

Bartow trailed 8-4 after one quarter and 14-12 at halftime before surging to a 21-19 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Dekalb outscored Bartow 10-3 in the final period to come away with a five point victory.

Jakez Baldwin scored seven points for Bartow. He was followed by Christian Teasley and Jabari Burleson with four each; Kyron McClendon, three; Jeremy Dent Jr., Jaiden Daise, and Naiser Bennett chipped in with two points each.
