Canes defeat Troup, 2-1

First half goals by Victor Guevara and Elian Abeja provided enough offense Thursday night for the Cartersville boys soccer team to defeat the visiting Troup Tigers, 2-1.

Guevara scored in the 10th minute off an assist by Pedro Robledo. Abeja's tally was assisted by James Chege at the 25 minute mark.

Troup scored with 10 minutes remaining in the first half.

The second half then turned into a defensive battle with the Hurricanes coming away with the Region 5AAAA win. Troup fell to 0-2 on the season.

Cartersville (4-1-1) plays at LaGrange in another region matchup Tuesday at 8pm. The Canes then play a non-region match at Sprayberry next Friday at 7:30pm.
