Cass soccer teams fall at Sonoraville
The Cass High School soccer teams both lost Tuesday evening at Sonoraville.
The Lady Colonels were edged 2-1 and the Colonels fell 4-2 to the Phoenix.
SONORAVILLE GIRLS 2, CASS 1
The Lady Phoenix scored first, but Cass’ Logan Vermaas tied the game off an assist from Kelsey Rivera with 25 minutes remaining in the first half to tie the game 1-1 at the intermission.
Sonoraville (2-1) managed the only goal of the second half with approximately 20 minutes remaining. That goal would provide the margin of victory.
The Lady Colonels (2-1) play at unbeaten Southeast Whitfield Friday at 5:30pm.
SONORAVILLE BOYS 4, CASS 2
The Phoenix scored first on a penalty kick approximately 10 minutes into the game and took a 2-0 lead with 15 minutes remaining in the first half.
The Colonels cut the Sonoraville lead in half with six minutes remaining in the half, but the Phoenix went back up 3-1 before the break.
Sonoraville scored again to go ahead 4-1 and Cass responded quickly to again cut the Phoenix lead in half at 4-2 in the first five minutes of the second half, but that is as close as it would get.
Jonathan Tong and Luis Rojas scored the goals for the Colonels. Anthony Robledo assisted on the goal by Rojas.
Sonoraville (2-0-1) added two more goals down the stretch to put the Colonels away, 6-2.
Cass (0-3) plays at Southeast Whitfield Friday night at 7:30pm.
