Chargers swept by Walters State CC
Walters State CC (TN) pounded out 19 hits Sunday afternoon in an 8-2 win over the Georgia Highlands baseball Chargers at LakePoint.
The win by the visiting Senators completed a three-game series sweep over GHC. Walters State won the first two games Saturday 1-0 and 2-1.
Elijah Helton and Hunter Gilliland homered Sunday for the Senators. Helton was 3-for-5 with four RBI. Trey Maslin went 4-for-5, Kyle Ouellette was 4-for-6, and Dylan Harris 3-for-5 with multi-hit games.
Walters State used three pitchers to limit GHC to only one earned run on two hits. Senators’ starter Ricky Karcher was credited with the win.
Georgia Highlands’ Sam Sowerbrower suffered the pitching loss (2IP, 5ER, 8H, 1BB). Tyler Sellers, Sean Fitzpatrick, Bradley Hood, Peyton Tennant, and Britt Buckelew all saw mound time for the Chargers.
Evan Mask and Bronco O’Brien had the only Chargers’ hits. John White drove in a run.
Georgia Highlands (2-4) hosts Bryant & Stratton CC (VA) Tuesday and Wednesday at LakePoint with games starting at 5pm and 6pm, respectively. The Chargers then host Lincoln Trail CC (IL) for a three-game series Friday and Saturday with the opener Friday at 6pm and a doubleheader Saturday scheduled for first pitch at 1pm.
