Georgia Highlands baseball wins opening weekend series


The Georgia Highlands baseball team split a Saturday doubleheader with Chattanooga State at LakePoint in Emerson, but won two of three in the season opening series.


After winning 12-0 Friday, the Chargers won 10-3 Saturday in Game 1 before being edged by the Tigers in Game 2, 2-1.


Drew Wilson (4 IP, 4H, 3ER, 3K) was the Game 1 winnning pitcher.


Grant Bodison was 2-for-4 for the GHC offense in the opener and hit his second homerun of the season. Nick Fink also homered for the Chargers.


Sam Sowerbrower was the Game 2 losing pitcher. He allowed only two earned runs through five innings, but the Georgia Highlands offense managed only a Bronco O’Brien RBI.


The Chargers (2-1) host Walters State CC in a three game series next weekend. The Senators come to LakePoint for a Saturday doubleheader and a single game on Sunday.
