Bartow 7-year-old girls soccer wins GRPA state championship
The Bartow County Recreation Department 7-year-old girls soccer all-stars won the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA) state championship Saturday in Calhoun.
Bartow did not allow a goal in the state tournament, defeating Albany YMCA (2-0) in the state semifinals and Calhoun (3-0) in the state championship game.
Ryland Piatt and Ella Edwards scored one goal each for Bartow County in the semifinal win over Albany YMCA. Emma Edwards scored one goal and Ella Edwards scored twice in the state championship match.
The team, coached by Jimmy Edwards, includes: Ashlynn Bloodworth, Gracie Cash, Alexa Damer, Ella Edwards, Emma Edwards, Francesca Fitzgerald, Lillian McCormick, Layla Morgan, Ryland Piatt, and Malorie Rogers.
BARTOW 10U AND 12U FINISH 3RD AT STATE TOURNAMENT
The Bartow County 10U girls soccer all-stars placed third Saturday in the GRPA state tournament.
Bartow 10U defeated Camden County 2-1 Friday night, but lost in the semifinals Saturday to Dalton, 8-0.
Dalton 10U went on to capture the state title with a 2-0 win over Columbia County.
The Bartow 10U all-stars include: Layla Allgood, Jazlyn Coyle, Jessica Hogue, Mia Manjarrez, Summerlyn Smith, Allie Southern, Hailey Templeton, Piper Tordrup, Ava Walker, Anna-Grace Weathers, Caitlin Wilson. Coach: Jeff Shinall.
The Bartow County 12U girls soccer all-stars lost to Albany YMCA 5-2 Friday night in the state tournament semifinals to finish third.
Albany YMCA went on to win the state title on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Columbia County. The Bartow 12U all-stars include: Gracie Baker, Gabbie Becerra, Taff Bradley, Giorgia Conduff, Paige Forman, Ahtziri Fuentes, Rachel Millsap, Naxyria Roberts, Paola Robledo, Natalie Rogers, Ashley Walker, Reagan Weightman, Ava Whatley.
