Elite Athletes of the Week
Elite Stone Supply, in conjunction with WBHF and Bartow Sports Zone, presents the ELITE ATHLETES OF THE WEEK. Each week, all five local schools are provided opportunity to name an Elite Athlete of the Week and present the information on their honoree through Bartow Sports Zone and on 100.3FM and AM1450, WBHF in Cartersville.
Recipients for the week ending October 15, 2016:
Bailey Belisario -- Excel Christian Academy
T.J. Bosdell -- Adairsville High School
Jonathan Holloway -- Woodland High School
Anna Mathis -- Cartersville High School
Seven Richards -- Cass High School
Bailey Belisario is the Excel Christian Academy Elite Athlete of the Week.
The son of Stewart and Andrea Belisario, Bailey has run cross country for the Eagles for the past three years.
He is one of the team captains and is the top runner on the cross country team that has improved throughout the season. He ran his season best at the Bartow County Championships and will be one of the major contenders at the Region 6-A meet.
Belisario is a multi-sport athlete at Excel, where he also plays forward on the basketball team and is a midfielder on the soccer team.
An outstanding student excelling in the classroom, Belisario has a 4.2 grade point average while taking honors and AP classes. He claims AP US History is his favorite class.
He is Vice President of the Student Council, leading by example. He is a positive role model to all the students at Excel and is known to go above and beyond what is asked of him.
Coaches Christie Taylor and Gary Boulier compliment Belisario for his work ethic, leadership and the positive impact he has on the younger runners on the team.
He attends the Church at the Well in Cartersville where he serves as an usher and works with the children in the day care during services.
His future plans include attending the Naval or Air Force Academy.
T.J. Bosdell is the Elite Athlete of the Week for Adairsville High School.
A junior, Bosdell is a leader with the Adairsville cross country team and the JROTC Raiders.
Bosdell ran in the Bartow County championship in cross country on October 13 and helped lead the JROTC Raiders to their sixth consecutive area championship October 15. He competed in every event, including a 5K, one-mile cross country rescue, Raider fitness challenge, tire flip, and rope bridge.
The grandson of Kent and Tracy Soigmies, T.J. is in the top five percent academically in his class with a 4.0 GPA and is one of the top role models at Adairsville High School.
Woodland High School’s Elite Athlete of the Week is Jonathan Holloway.
A junior and son of David and Sunita Holloway, Jonathan currently holds the county’s best 5K time for 2016 and has consistently been the top runner for the Wildcats this season.
Based on data available from Georgia MileSplit, Holloway has a personal best 5K time of 17:20.22. His best 3200M time is 11:04.46 and has track personal bests of 4:35.81 in the 1500M, 2:08.44 in the 800M, and a 56.44 400M.
Anna Mathis is the Elite Athlete of the Week representing Cartersville High School.
A sophomore libero on the Lady Canes volleyball team that made the second round of the Class AAAA state playoffs, Mathis has been a varsity player for both of her years in high school.
Mathis was named Honorable Mention All-Area 5-AAAA this season and played a vital role in Cartersville’s service returns and back row defense.
She played two years of middle school volleyball prior to high school and has also played club volleyball for the past two years.
Mathis is the daughter of Kelly Mathis and Kristy and Shane Bramlett.
The Cass High School Elite Athlete of the Week is junior football player, Seven Richards.
Richards is a two way player on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Colonels.
He has a combination of size and quickness that — along with his work ethic and effort — has made him impressive and difficult for opponents to manage.
Richards is the son of Jennifer Millwood.
