Calhoun girls, Cartersville boys win BGMSAA golf championships
The Calhoun Middle School girls team defeated Ashworth by 10 shots, while the Cartersville Middle School boys team claimed the top six individual places and easily defeated the field by 36 shots to win the 2016 Bartow-Gordon Middle School Athletic Association golf championships.
Kylee Thornton of Calhoun fired a 39 to win the girls individual title by seven shots over Brooke Wilson of Ashworth. Cartersville dominated the boys tournament by taking the top six spots.
Buck Brumlow shot 35 to win medalist honors. Blaine Davis shot 40, followed by Carson Harris, Jake Lawson, and Nate McDonald at 42. Anderson McCary shot 44 to round out the Canes' scoring.
