Local region high school softball standings

The regular season for local high school softball teams will be winding down this week and next, so each team is involved in crucial games over that period.

In Region 7-AAAAA, Woodland and Cass each have three region games remaining and are currently tied for the sixth and final region playoff spot.

In Region 5-AAAA, Cartersville is looking to secure home field advantage for their region playoffs by finishing the regular season in the top four.

Adairsville is in a similar situation in Region 6-AAA. The Lady Tigers are battling for a higher seed.

The top four region playoff teams in 7-AAAAA, 5-AAAA, and 6-AAA will advance to the state playoffs.

The format for qualifying for the state playoffs in Class A is different.

Excel Christian Academy, currently rated No. 21 among Class A private schools by the most recent GHSA power ratings (released today), needs wins down the stretch to finish in the top 24 of those ratings to secure a state playoff berth.
