Cartersville 10U advances at GRPA tournament
The Cartersville Recreation Department 10U baseball all-stars picked up an afternoon victory Wednesday at the GRPA State Tournament.
Cartersville, playing in an elimination game at the double-elimination event in Tifton, defeated the Savannah Game On Bulldogs, 9-8, in extra innings.
Jimmy Channel was 2-for-2 with a walk to lead the Cartersville offense. Sawyer Wilson was 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly. Luke Altizer went 1-for-3.
Tyler Taylor was the winning pitcher for Cartersville. Taylor tossed five innings allowing only two earned runs. Trenton Payne also worked one inning on the mound.
Cartersville advances to a 5:30pm elimination game Wednesday afternoon against Calhoun.
The Georgia Recreation and Parks Association 10U State Tournament continues through Saturday in Tifton.
