DeBruin and Justus in midst of hitting streaks; MiLB 'Athletes Beyond Bartow' report for loc

Grant DeBruin — Hagerstown Suns — Class A, South Atlantic League — MLB Parent Club, Washington Nationals (Adairsville HS)
The former University of Alabama-Huntsville standout has hit safely in three straight games and is 11-for-35 in his last 10 games dating back to June 24. After spending time in extended spring training, DeBruin now has a .222 batting average in 26 games and 90 at bats this season for Potomac (Advanced Class A) and Hagerstown. He has four doubles, two home runs, and eight RBI to go with 12 walks. The first baseman has been hitting in the third spot or cleanup in recent games for the Suns.
Dalton Geekie — Rome Braves — Class A, South Atlantic League — MLB Parent Club, Atlanta Braves

Geekie has a 2-3 record with a 5.25 ERA in 23 appearances in 2016. He has one save in 36 innings of work and opponents have a .226 batting average against him. The most recent appearance for the former GHC Charger was June 30 in a 5-4 loss at the Lexington Legends. He pitched two innings and allowed a run on two hits with one walk.
Sam Howard — Harford Yard Goats — Double-A, Eastern League — MLB Parent Club, Colorado Rockies (Cartersville HS)
Howard fell to 0-4 on the year at the Double-A level following a 6-2 loss at the Portland (ME) Sea Dogs on July 1. He went 5 and 2/3 innings in the start and allowed six earned runs on 10 hits and three walks. He struck out two.
The former Georgia Southern University lefty is now 4-7 on year after starting the season 4-3 with the Advanced Class A, Modesto Nuts of the California League. He has a 3.22 ERA in 16 starts and 92 and 1/3 innings. Opponents have a .235 batting average against him.
Connor Justus — Orem Owlz — Rookie level, Pioneer League — MLB Parent Club, Los Angeles Angels (Cartersville HS)
The former Georgia Tech shortstop now has a .286 batting average at the professional level after 12 games and 42 at bats. Justus has scored 5 runs, has 12 hits (3 doubles), nine RBI and has coaxed nine walks. Has a five-game hitting streak June 30-July 3.
Donavan Tate — Rancho Cucamonga Quakes — Advanced Class A — California League — MLB Parent Club, Los Angeles Dodgers

Tate has now played in eight games after coming off the disable list to start the season. He has a .179 batting average in 28 at bats with a home run and three RBI. In his most recent appearance, he was 1-for-4 with one RBI. Tate batted in the number five spot in the order and played right field in a home win over Stockton.
