Branton ties for 12th at GSGA Mid-Amateur Championship
Chad Branton of Cartersville tied for 12th place at the Georgia Mid-Amateur Championship May 20-22 at Augusta Country Club. Branton fired a 3-over par, 216 total (70-70-76) in the 54-hole event. The 35th Mid-Am was won by Augusta’s John Engler, Jr. who fired a 6-under par 207 (68-66-73) on his home track. Engler edged Taylor Smith of Covington by one stroke. The Georgia Mid-Amateur included a final field of 144 players and the event is open to Georgia State Golf Association members age 25 or older. A total of 633 players entered the 2016 tournament. Qualifying for the final tournament field occurred at six, 18-hole qualifiers in April.
