Georgia Highlands tourney game suspended; continues Friday morning
The elimination game between Georgia Highlands and East Georgia State was suspended due to weather Thursday after 7 1/2 innings.
When the game resumes Friday at 10am, Brandon Etheridge will be at the plate for the Chargers to lead off the bottom of the eighth with GHC trailing 6-2.
Georgia Highlands won its opening game in the tournament Wednesday over Gordon State, 7-4. In the second round Thursday afternoon, GHC fell to host and top-seed Darton State, 6-1.
The loss forced the Chargers into the loser’s bracket of the double-elimination tournament and into the elimination game against East Georgia State.
The winner of the GHC/East Georgia game plays another elimination game Friday at 3:30pm against Gordon State. The Highlanders survived an elimination game with ABAC, 10-2.
The top two seeds from the regular season, Darton State and South Georgia State, remain unbeaten in the tournament and square off at noon Friday.
The tournament championship game is Saturday with all games on the Darton State College campus in Albany, GA.
