Lady Tigers' record setting season comes to a close

A record-setting playoff run by the Adairsville Lady Tigers soccer team came to a close Saturday night at Tiger Valley with a 2-0 loss to Savannah Arts Academy.

Savannah Arts Academy scored in the final two minutes of the first half on a penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead and added a second goal in the game’s 49th minute.

Savannah Arts Academy advances to the state semifinals to face Westminster. Blessed Trinity and Decatur are the other state semifinalists in Class AAA.

Adairsville’s season finished with a 17-2 record, a No. 7 ranking in the most recent statewide poll, and a Region 6-AAA title. It also marked the program’s first trip to the state quarterfinals.
